What's New: Harmony Offer Flights Nonstop to Vancouver

Public Record, The, Nov 23, 2004

On Jan. 6, 2005, Harmony Airways will begin twice-weekly, nonstop service to Palm Springs International Airport from Vancouver, British Columbia.

Operating on Thursday and Sunday, flights are available for sale through April 3. Whether the service will continue beyond that date will be determined after the carrier sees the extent of demand for service. The flight departs Vancouver at 9 a.m. and arrives in Palm Springs at noon; the outbound route departs Palm Springs at 1 p.m. and arrives in Vancouver at 4 p.m.

Harmony Airways joins Alaska Airlines in providing nonstop service to Vancouver, Palm Springs International Airport's 11th most popular market. "We believe there is sufficient demand for both carriers to be successful," says Director of Aviation Richard Walsh. "The combined service will increase transborder passenger traffic." Alaska flights to Vancouver operate on Saturday and Sunday.

Harmony Airways inaugural flight was from Vancouver to Matazlan in November 2002. Owned by a Canadian entrepreneur and headquartered in Vancouver, the airline acquired its third 197-passenger Boeing 757 in February of this year. It provides service to Toronto, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Honolulu and Maui, but will discontinue flights to Los Angeles on Jan. 5. Harmony Airways provides complimentary meals and free in-flight movies. Its sister tour operation, Companion Holidays, offers travel packages.

The one-way fare between Vancouver and Palm Springs, booked by Nov. 29 for travel by Feb. 28, is posted as $139 on the carrier's Web site (www.harmonyairways.com). The airline's toll-free phone number is (866) 8686789.
