Desert Design Builders Breaks Ground On Mixed-Use Condo Project In Palm Springs

Public Record, The, Mar 06, 2007

Desert Design Builders has commenced work on its $9-million mixed-use project in the Las Palmas Gallery District of North Palm Canyon, with an eye to having its 12 luxury condominiums ready for occupancy early in 2008.

Named for its address, 803 N. Palm Canyon incorporates sleek contemporary architecture, featuring twelve 2-bedroom luxury condominiums, each with a private cabana around the complex's interior pool.

The architects for the project, Santa Barbara and Los Angeles-based DesignARC, are known for their use of clean, simple lines and the integration of indoor-outdoor living spaces. Each unit has two-story glass living room walls, private terraced entrances, and top-of-the-line bath fixtures and kitchen appliances.

There will be 3,500 square feet of retail space on the ground floor of the project facing North Palm Canyon Drive. A 360-degree video tour of the model is available online at www.desertdesignbuilders.com.

"This project will set new standards in contemporary mixed use architecture," said Desert design Builders founder Wally Hrdlicka. "This will be real 'leave-your-car-behind' urban village living, within walking distance of downtown Palm Springs. And it will play a key role in the development of the uptown district of Palm Springs."

Colorado native Hrdlicka founded Palm Desert-based DDB in 1995. With interior decorating services by Gay Young Hrdlicka, the company has been constructing new homes and upgrading and renovating older ones in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and Indian Wells.

The company currently is currently working on a luxury expansion and remodel project in Rancho Mirage, and has its eye on a 150-acre subdivision in Desert Hot Springs, with groundbreaking anticipated in three years' time.
