Century 1900-2000...
The Board Game is a great way to have kids get a sense of the century just past from a social, political and historical perspective. The game uses a trivia format and players answer questions covering important events of the century while moving across the game board and collecting tokens. The first player to reach the year 2000 with Peace, Health and Happiness tokens wins. We know these types of information games exercise brain cells while expanding knowledge. Creative Teaching Associates makes some of the best games. This one is for grades five through adult. $25.95 plus s/h.
But games aren't all this company produces. There's a neat reproducible book that contains two mystery stories in which animal detectives solve the "mysteries of science." You'll find the stories, activity sheets, experiments, vocabulary lists, and research topics covering the Life Cycle and the Water Cycle. Books in this "Cycles in Nature" series are $6.95 each, plus s/h, (800-767-4282) or at your local school supply store.
