There's an art to teaching...

Teaching Pre K-8, Mar 2001 by Broderick, Patricia, Raymond, Allen

and there's a new book from Crystal Springs books that makes that art very apparent. I Teach Kindergarten - A Treasure Chest of Teaching Wisdom is a wonderful handbook for new teachers as well as for veterans.

There are eight chapters covering expectations for kindergartners, the classroom environment (work and play areas, bulletin boards, centers, etc.), assessment strategies, classroom management tips, parents as partners, teaching with themes, substitute teachers and dealing with struggling learners. There are two and one-half pages of additional resources noted. Some reproducibles are included. This is well-illustrated with samples of student work, assessment questions and so on. Joy Cowley wrote in the foreword "This has to be the best handbook yet for busy kindergarten teachers....It is to the classroom what a navigational chart is to a voyage." Amen to that.

Just $19.95 plus s/h, 160 pages, 8 1/2 x 11.
