Read across America
Teaching Pre K-8, Mar 2002 by Laminack, Lester
It's time once again for the annual Read Across America celebration. This event is usually held on March 2 - or as close to it as possible - to coincide with the birthday of Dr. Seuss. Read Across America is designed to promote reading among this country's schoolchildren. Many schools sponsor a formal Read Across America celebration that includes guest readers and other literary activities. It's a great opportunity for you to get involved in an activity that will support your children, their school and literacy. What could be more worthwhile - and more fun?
For more information on this event, check out the official Read Across America website at www.nea.org/readacross where you'll find a Crash Course link to all the information you'll need to organize a celebration at your child's school. Under the Resources link, you'll find several book lists that are worth a look even if you're not participating in Read Across America.
Your kids may enjoy visiting www.randomhouse.com/seussvi lie This interactive site features characters from Dr. Seuss' books.
