Easy money

Teaching Pre K-8, Aug/Sep 2002 by Broderick, Patricia, Raymond, Allen

When we see our tax dollars working as they are in the United States Mint's 50 State Quarters Program, we feel it's money well spent. The Mint has, and will continue to develop annually, three sets of lesson plans (one each for grades K-1, 2-3 and 4-6). These lesson plans are related to the release of each state's quarter (quarters are released in the same order that each state ratified the Constitution) and include reproducibles, background information on the states and the quarters, and answer keys. There are six lesson plans for each level.

The lesson plan content has been prepared by former teachers and has been additionally evaluated by teams of educational specialists for correlation with the standards (NCTM, NCTE, NCSS as well as the National Council for Geographic Education) and for grade-level appropriateness. This program began in 1999, so be sure to download all of the material for the past two years. It's goooood! The URL for this FREE material is: www.usmint.gov /kids
