A Beautiful Story
The February 2003 issue came in the mail this morning and what a beautiful story you told about your visit to Missy Lee's room at Loring School. The cover is so attractive; if I didn't know anything about Missy that cover would pull me in and make me turn to page 44 right away!
The story by Becky Rodia is a great piece of journalism; Teaching K-8 is very fortunate to have her on staff. She distilled the essence of Missy's classroom and conveyed it in the short space of the story. At the same time, she also gave details that invited the reader to picture the first-grade day as it unfolded. I especially loved the prominent mention of the fact that there is indeed structure in this room. In relatively few words, the serenity of Missy's room, with the orderliness of equipment, the carefully planned procedures for transitions and the sense of responsibility Missy helps to develop in each child was conveyed.
Thank you all for giving Sudbury, Loring School, Missy Lee and me a simply splendid experience being part of your publishing world. It's an enormous treat to work with you on bringing the best in education to the readers of Teaching K-8.

A "Silent" Thank You
Thank you for your wonderful donation of books, software and magazines for the Silent Auction to benefit Summerville Catholic School. We were very grateful for your generosity. The books were donated to the library but everything else went to the auction. People like you bring joy to the world.
