National standards and school science and mathematics
School Science and Mathematics, Oct 1997 by Bybee, Rodger W, Ferrini-Mundy, Joan, Loucks-Horsley, Susan
Are these challenges appropriate for science and mathematics education? For several reasons, our answer is yes. The public recognizes the need to improve education, and in the majority of cases they are very clear about the importance of science and mathematics education. Having stated broad goals about higher levels of achievement in science and mathematics, it is appropriate to provide a more concrete statement of what students should know, value, and do, and for practitioners to interpret and enact standards in productive ways.
