Profiles in Business: Peter and Richard Asch: Twincraft Soaps

Vermont Business Magazine, Nov 01, 2004 by Marcel, Joyce

"I know people who have very successfill businesses in other states and they live in walled-in compounds," he said. "Gated communities. That basically says, 'We only want our kind of people. No poor people need apply. "I want my kids mixing it up with people, not just rich people. Vermont offers that, and I hope Vermont always stays like that. It's not anti-business; it's pro-life. It's got balance. Many other states are unbalanced. I'm so happy we're here."

Both Peter and Richard agree that while business is an important part of life, it is not the only thing in life.

"I don't want to be here until 9 pm working like a fool and having lots of money and being divorced and not being a father," Peter said. "And at the end of the day, my gravestone says, 'He made 48 zillion bars of soap and is a rich man. "To me, that's a very poor man."
