Let's do lunch
Southern Living, Jul 2002 by Perry, Mary Allen
Impress your friends with a summer affair featuring these family favorites.
For more than 30 years, my great-aunt Agatha hosted the annual luncheon for the ladies of the Mount Wedelia Garden Club. She had a gift for growing roses and doubling recipes without a hitch.
The menu was classic tearoom fare. Pitchers of iced tea with fresh mint were set alongside wicker baskets filled to the brim with miniature muffins, hot from the oven. She always made the casseroles and desserts in advance, which allowed for relaxed entertaining when the final stampede of pearls and patent leather pocketbooks arrived.
Aunt Agatha's luncheons were admirable affairs, and yours can be too. Just use these tried-and-true recipes. MARY ALLEN PERRY
