Road Trip of a Lifetime

Southern Living, Apr 2004 by Thomas, Les

On a warm and balmy morning, I drive out to a citrus grove near Brownsville. Orchard worker Fausto Martinez, 24, shows me some of the trees laden with orange blossoms at Loop Farms. "You picked a good time to come," he says smiling. "All the trees are in bloom in March and April. If you catch the wind just right-you can smell it for miles." I take a deep breath and try to make it last as long as I can.

There's only one trouble with this road trip. I hate to see it end.
