Rolling Through The City
Southern Living, Jul 2007
Hop aboard a Segway for a tour of Annapolis, Maryland.
A group of teenagers stops to stare as a white-haired colonial gent rolls past atop a silent Segway. Three khakiclad tourists follow close behind, each driving their own personal transporters.
The odd juxtaposition of old-world garb and newworld technology renders the teens momentarily speechless, but those taking the tour couldn't be happier. "When we glide hrough town," notes tour guide "Squire David" Smith, "my clients have grins on their faces that would scare a Cheshire cat."
Capital City Colonials offers a two-hour tour of the city for $65 per person. Tours come with history-or without. The host doesn't even wear colonial attire unless it's requested.
