Life Through A Lens
An Annie Leibovitz photograph is unmistakable-iconic, provocative, and intimate. Famous for celebrity portraits featured in Vanity Fair, Vogue, and Rolling Stone, she captures frequently photographed subjects in ways they've never been seen. Get to Atlanta's High Museum of Art before September 9 to see "Annie Leibovitz: A Photographer's Life, 1990-2005." The exhibit then moves to the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
What makes this exhibit extra special? Leibovitz's well-known published images share the walls with family photographs that offer a glimpse into the artist's personal life. The incongruous blend of two very different worlds is like an autobiography written with images.
Portraits of Leibovitz's children accompany jarring shots of the 1990s siege on Sarajevo. You'll recognize many famous faces, including Demi Moore baring her pregnant belly.
