Lower doses in estrogen replacement may be better

Off Our Backs, Jul 2001 by Douglas, Carol Anne, Myers, Clare-Marie

Recent studies suggest that lower doses of estrogen and progestin may be just as effective as the higher doses currently being taken by women undergoing hormone replacement therapy. The studies show that lower doses result in a reduced occurrence of side effects such as breast tenderness, while remaining effective at controlling the symptoms of menopause. Additionally, lower doses of hormones may be desirable because of the possibility that hormone replacement therapy contributes to the development of breast cancer.
