The Center for Popular Economics at Amherst College, MA is offering an intensive training session in the economics and social change. Participants will take courses in either U.S. or foreign economy and are invited to attend cultural events, speaker conferences, workshops and discussion groups. No background in economics is necessary. Academic credit and scholarships are available. Registrations after June 30, 2005 will incur a $35 late fee. Publications

Women for Women's Human Rights (WWHR)-NEW WAYS-has two new publications, "Turkish Civil and Penal Code Reforms from a Gender Perspective: The success of two nationwide campaigns" and "Gender, Sexuality and the Criminal Laws in the Middle East and North Africa: A Comparative Study." The first publication details the Turkish women's movement's successful campaigns to reform the country's penal and civil codes. The second new publication examines how sex-related human rights violations are justified by local law as well as how the existing system represses sexuality. Trivia, A Journal of Ideas has been reborn as the online publication, Trivia: Voices of Feminism. The new version of the radical feminist journal of the 80's and 90's can be found at www.triviavoices.net.

Skirting Tradition: Women in Politics Speak to the Next Generation is a compilation of essays, advice, anecdotes and speeches from prominent female politicians to young women also interested in careers in politics. Compiled by four Harvard undergraduate women and sponsored by Harvard's Institute of Politics, the book is the perfect gift for any ambitious young girl who wants to change the world. FEMSPEC Issue 4.2 is now available. The interdisciplinary feminist journal's latest release focuses on "Speculating Jewish Women and Race and Culture." FEMSPEC contains critical and creative writings of the supernatural sort, and seeks to question gender and sexuality while providing a venue for topics not already addressed by feminist and mainstream magic realist publishers.
