Uganda and the "Global Gag Rule"

Off Our Backs, 2006 by Klink, Jenna

There are a number of organizations working to educate people on the impacts of the Global Gag Rule, including Population Action International and the Center for Reproductive Rights. In response to Bush withholding funding from the UNFPA, two women, Jane Roberts and Lois Abraham, started a grassroots effort to raise the $34 million that was initially withheld in 2002.

They are encouraging Americans to donate $1 each. You can visit their website at www.34millionfriends.org. As of September 13, when Bush again refused to fund UNFPA, the total amount of funding withheld has now amounted to $161 million.
