Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton: A quarter century of caring
Mercer Business, Jul 01, 1996
University Medical Group Pediatrics at Hamilton is a full-service pediatric practice that opened in 1995. Board Certified Pediatricians provide comprehensive infant, child and adolescent care in a convenient location in Hamilton Regional Health Network. The group is affiliated with the prestigious University Medical Group of the UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
Coming this fall to Hamilton Regional Health Network is a community affiliate of The Cancer Institute of New Jersey. The New Brunswick-based Institute and its Hamilton affiliate bring to area residents the most advanced cancer treatment available anywhere in America. The Institute is one of 27 sites in the nation sanctioned by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the community affiliate at Hamilton is the only one in Mercer County.
During this period of growth, expansion and diversification, RWJ at Hamilton in 1994 affiliated with New Jersey's premier academic medical center, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. In 1995, RWJ at Hamilton joined the Robert Wood Johnson Health System, which includes 16 leading hospitals and health centers in Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, Middlesex and Union Counties. It's not surprising that the RWJ at Hamilton Medical Staff has grown during this time--now, it includes more than 300 physicians representing more than 30 specialties.
Meanwhile, a new professional medical building is scheduled to open some time next year on the RWJ at Hamilton campus, and home health care is the next item on the diversification agenda. What's next? Michael Bryant has made no announcement concerning the specifics, but he points out that there are 25 acres on the campus that are still waiting for development.
For now, however, there' s excitement aplenty on this bustling Hamilton campus. The Women and Infants Pavilion that opened on July 1 is clearly a dream come true for everyone at RWJ at Hamilton. The Pavilion features 10 private maternity suites, each beautifully appointed and featuring a picture window view of the park.
Not a detail has been overlooked--a private driveway, a private entrance, spacious jacuzzis for relaxation, every kind of state-of-the art technology and equipment, and 24-hour anesthesiology and neonatology coverage.
Since maternity services begin long before the birth of a baby, the childbirth education program at RWJ at Hamilton has been in full swing for more than a year. A full selection of classes is available on a continuous basis, covering all stages of pregnancy, preparation for childbirth, lactation, and infant care. Comprehensive postpartum and follow-up education programs are always available to new parents.
In addition to offering the latest and the best in maternity care and birth options, the Pavilion is home to the new Robert Wood Johnson OB-GYN Group at Hamilton, a full-service practice that includes some of the area' s most prestigious OB-GYN physicians and nurse midwives.
In short, the little hospital that came to Hamilton a quarter of a century ago has come a long way, baby. As it celebrates its 25th anniversary and looks ahead to the 21st century, RWJ at Hamilton looks forward to serving the Mercer County community for many years to come.
