Excel Manufacturing acquires machine, sheet metal fabrication div. BancTec Technologies

Mid-America Commerce & Industry, Mar 1995

Excel Manufacturing, Inc. of Wichita, has acquired the machining and sheet metal fabricating assets of BancTec Technologies, Inc., Silver Spring, Maryland, according to Allen Oakleaf, owner and president of Excel.

BancTec Technologies, Inc., is a wholly-owned subsidiary of BancTec, Inc. which has its headquarters in Dallas and its primary operations in Oklahoma City. BancTec is a leading supplier of document and check handling equipment to the domestic and international banking industry. Excel has been a long term supplier of machined parts for BancTec.

Construction has begun on a 17,500-square-foot addition to Excel's manufacturing facilities at 3258 S. Hoover Rd. The acquired machinery and equipment will be relocated from Silver Spring to the new plant in June, 1995.

"The new business will continue to supply the majority of BancTec's machined and sheet metal fabricated parts requirements," Oakleaf said. He said that Excel will be hiring at least 20 to 30 new employees during the next 12 months.

"We plan to build our commercial machining capability as aggressively as we are building our high technology, high speed machining niche in the aerospace industry," he said.

Excel Manufacturing, Inc. was founded in 1975 by Allen Oakleaf and his former partner, Marvin Angleton.
