Ronson Machine & Manufacturing of Independence, MO offers custom precision sheet metal fabrication

Mid-America Commerce & Industry, May 01, 1996

Ronson Machine & Manufacturing, Inc., Independence, Missouri, offers custom precision sheet metal fabrication, stampings and prototypes, according to Terry Carver and Henry Schweitzer, owners and managers.

Founded in 1977 by Ron Maggard, the company was purchased by Carver in 1989. In March of 1995, Schweitzer became a partner and manages the financial portion of the business.

Terry said that prior to Ronson Machine, his background had been in distribution and sales. Henry, who was born in South America, has 24 years of experience in financial accounting for manufacturing firms.

"Henry acted as our accountant and consultant for many years, so it was only natural to have him join us as we plan for our expansion," Terry said. "We've continued to upgrade our CNC punch presses and press brakes and have added an Amada laser cutter.

"Ronson has also completed some new computer programs that give us an exact report on the productivity of each machine and operator. This allows us to be much more precise in our bidding and cost estimates as well as cost control. We n feel we have the equipment and the experienced people to offer our services to a broader market."

Ronson Machine's equipment, in addition to the new Amada 1500W laser, includes: a 33-ton Weidemann CNC punch press; two 22-ton Weidemanns; a 33-ton Amada SPH 30; seven forming machines (three Amada press brakes, a DiACRO and a Cincinnati); four saws, Mig and Tig welding stations; CADKEY systems and other support equipment. The plant computer system is Infisy.

The prototype department is available to fabricate preproduction components, weldments or assemblies to assist in the customer's design verification for virtually any industry. "We have the equipment to shear, notch, punch, blank, form, grain, drill, tap, saw, weld, spotweld and assemble."

"Our on-line computerized production control program capable of tracking any part while in production. The combination of computer precision, both in the office preparation and on the fabricating floor, means that parts can be manufactured without sacrificing accuracy for speed. This gives our customers the highest quality products for their just-in-time deliveries." Henry said.

Ronson works with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum and some plastics.

Located in a 30,000-square-foot plant at 3000 Little Blue Expressway, Ronson Manufacturing is 10 minutes east of Kansas City and just north of I-70 in Independence, Missouri.
