Rose Metal Products/rmp of Springfield ... a precision metal fabricator ... aluminum, stainless and carbon steel supplier
Mid-America Commerce & Industry, Apr 01, 1997
Rose Metal Products (rmp) of Springfield, Missouri has just completed building a 15,625-square-foot welding, grinding and assembly facility adjacent to its current plant, according to Ron Buchanan, president. This gives the company a total of 65,625 square feet of space.
rmp is a precision metal fabricator offering CNC punching, shearing, forming and laser cutting of aluminum, carbon steel and stainless steel. It is also a supplier of aluminum, stainless steel and carbon steel.
"We stock a large inventory of sheet, plate, round bars, square bars, flat bars, angles, tread plate, tubing, pipe, channel and I-beams," Ron said. "Our customers appreciate the fact that we'll sell aluminum or stainless in any amount. They may need just a foot or two of metal to finish a job. If it's a rush, we'll cut it for them while they wait."
By moving the welding and assembly operations to the newly completed plant, rmp no has more room for additional equipment in the metal fabricating department. A new Amada, 2000-watt production laser system with CNC control, will be installed in a couple of weeks. (This will be in addition to the 1500-watt laser system currently in place.) Also ordered for delivery this spring is a new eight-foot, 88-ton, 8-axis Amada press brake.
Some of the other equipment at rmp includes two Amada CNC turret punch presses, three Cincinnati CNC autoform hydraulic press brakes; one Amada and three Cincinnati shears (capability to 12 ft.), all sorts of automatic saws and drills; plate and power rolls, pipe benders: deburring and sand blasting equipment; some 35 welding machines and a 400-foot Jarvis Webb overhead conveyor paint system.
The recently expanded engineering wing contains the CAD/CAM department and houses six CAD/CAM designers. rmp offers comprehensive services from design engineering and CNC generated components to welded assemblies. The department turns out a good number of prototypes for a variety of customers.
rmp is committed to providing customers with services and products which meet their expectations. Right now rmp is in the process of preparing for its certification for ISO 9002. The engineering group has already completed its work on this, Ron said.
rmp had its beginning in 1960 when the Paul Mueller Company discontinued its sheet metal division and three former employees wanted to stay in the same line of work. Paul Rose, Ray Louth and John Frye founded Rose Sheet Metal. As the company moved into more sophisticated areas of fabrication, Rudy Lehar, former vice president of production (retired in 1995), was responsible for changing the name to Rose Metal Products in 1964.
Today, rmp's management team is composed of Ron Buchanan, president, Jim Skinner, vice president/sales. Mark Wickizer, vice president/production; Wily Buchanan, vice president/quality assurance, and Richard Splitter, secretary-treasurer/controller, rmp has around 55 employees and is proud of the fact that there is a very low turnover. They train most of their on personnel.
Splitter, who joined the company in 1978, fee grew up with rmp. "My Dad started here in 1961 and retired in 1978. He (Ed Splitter) handled the accounting, too." Ron Buchanan joined in 1969 and worked his way through drafting, engineering, sales, and management to become president in 1980.
rmp is located at 1955 East Division, Springfield, Missouri 65803. It may be reached at 417865-1676 or fax 417 865-7673.
