Kansas Plating Awarded NADCAP Certification for Quality Systems, N-D Testing & Chemical Processing

Mid-America Commerce & Industry, Jan 01, 2003

Kansas Plating, Incorporated, Wichita, Kansas, has been awarded the National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (NADCAP) certification for Quality Systems, Non-destructive Testing and Chemical Processing.

"This is a major accomplishment for our facility," stated Robert Clausing, QA manager. We want to position ourselves as one of the top plating firms in the region. I believe this clearly reflects our management's vision and understanding of the aerospace industry."

Directed by the Performance Review Institute (PRI) and a division of the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), NADCAP is a not-forprofit organization that conducts third-party audits. Its goal is to standardize the aerospace industry.

Clausing pointed out that a majority of the aircraft manufacturers throughout the country are mandating NADCAP accreditation of all facilities that conduct services such as: welding; nondestructive testing; chemical processing and heat-treating.

The chemical process certification identifies that Kansas Plating has met the requirements to perform cadmium plating, chrome plating, copper plating, nickel plating, electroless nickel plating, surface treatment/passivation, anodizing, chemical cleaning, conversion/phosphate coatings, etching, painting and dry film lube.

The accreditation in Nondestructive Testing covers the quality system along with the magnetic particle and penetrant inspection methods. This accreditation also earned instant approval from Raytheon Aircraft Co. as a supplier for NDT and chemical processing.

Kansas Plating has provided one-source finishing to the aerospace industry since it was founded by Norris Madden in 1955. Today, operating in a 38,000-sq.-ft. facility, the company serves customers across the country.

The company's most recent equipment addition has been a new paint booth to meet the specific needs of one of its customers.
