Asia: Worldview helps clients in region

Global Finance, Dec 2000 by Platt, Gordon

Worldview Technology Partners, a leading Silicon Valley venture capital firm, is helping its portfolio clients with business development in Japan and elsewhere in Asia. Worldview also co-invests with Asian VC firms.

"Singapore is a hotbed of entrepreneurial startup activity," says Worldview general partner John Boyle. "Hong Kong and South Korea also are increasingly entrepreneurial at rates comparable to the United States," he adds.

Worldview helped Triton Network Systems, based in Orlando, Florida, to introduce a broadband wireless system in downtown Tokyo, "where you can't dig up the streets," Boyle says. "We helped them write a business plan and get local specifications changed."

Triton has trials under way in China, Malaysia, and Taiwan and will launch one soon in Australia.
