Alliance opens Syracuse branch

CNY Business Journal (1996+), Jul 30, 1999 by L, Kim

SYRACUSE-It has been only three months since The First National Bank of Cortland merged with Oneida Valley National Bank, and already it is expanding operations. The bank's first new location in Syracuse opened its doors on July 19, in the business-banking center at One Park Place, 300 S. State St., in downtown Syracuse.

The new office is the 17th in a growing list of bank branches scheduled for Alliance, and is specifically geared to addressing the banking needs of the business community, as opposed to the individual consumer.

"As we promised at the time of the merger, Alliance Bank is moving toward a major presence in the Syracuse area, affirm Co-Chief Executive Officers John C. Mott and David R. Alvord. "The opening of the business-banking center is an important first step in following through on our original plan." Jim Getman, a 20-year veteran of the Syracuse commercial-banking community, will serve as Alliance Bank's executive vice president and senior loan officer. Getman and Vice President David Reaske will be based at the new Alliance Business Banking Center. The new branch will also employ flute additional positions to assist in customer service.

"There's tremendous opportunity for growth in financing for business of all sizes here in the Syracuse region," observes Getman. "We can provide a complete menu of business checking, savings, PC banking, credit, and other specialized products including trust and investment services."

Alliance already has locations in Manlius, Tully, Oneida, Cortland, Canastota, Cincinnatus, Hamilton, Marathon, McGraw, Sherrill, and Whitney Point. Plans for additional fullservice community branch locations are also on the boards, with the bank looking into several locations in the greater Syracuse area. Announcements regarding specific sites are expected in the next 30 to 60 days.
