CNY construction companies among winners of GBC's Build NY awards

ALBANY - The General Building Contractors of New York State has chosen its Build New York winners for 2001. Among them are several construction companies with headquarters or a significant presence in Central New York.

In the "small new construction!' category (under $10 million construction volume), Murnane Building Contractors, Inc. won for the Bertrand H. Snell Hall at Clarkson University in Potsdam. Murnane has its headquarters in Plattsburgh and an office in East Syracuse.

Charles A. Gaetano Construction Corp. of Utica won in the "large new construction" category (more than $10 million) for the phase 1, third- and fourthfloor addition to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica.

In the "renovations," category, the Rockwell Museum of Western Art in Corning won for Welliver McGuire, Inc. of Elmira.

The winners were chosen by a jury of eight from a total of 18 entries.

The Build New York Award winners and entrants were honored Nov. 8 at the Albany Institute of History & Art.
