AUSA 2005 Resolutions

Army, Feb 2005

The 2005 resolutions focus AUSA's efforts as the voice for the Army on Capitol Hill this year and ensure the Association's message is heard by the administration and congressional leaders.

They address the unique and complex challenges facing the Army as it fights the global war on terrorism and reflect the need for the Army to fight and win the current conflict while transforming to meet the inevitable challenges that lie ahead. They acknowledge the tremendous support of the U.S. Congress for America's Army over the past year but also reflect the reality that much remains to be done for the men and women who have "accepted the unlimited liability associated with the profession of arms."

The 2005 resolutions cover a range of issues facing the Army, including military compensation, soldiers and their families, health care, retirement, Army civilian personnel, homeland security, resourcing the Army, manning the force, training for Army readiness, power projection, special operations forces, science and technology, soldier modernization, weapon systems, space and missile defense and Army efficiencies.

Each year, in February, AUSA seeks nominations for membership on the Resolutions Committee. If you have expertise or an interest in any of the areas listed above and wish to contribute concretely to AUSA and the Army-combined with a willingness to put in a few days of hard work during the Annual Meeting-let your chapter president know.

The text of AUSA's resolutions and the names of current committee members are available on AUSA's web site (www.ausa.org) by selecting "Legislation," then "Our Resolutions" on the site menu or by calling the Government Affairs Directorate (703-907-2637).
