The company's four major divisions are Fluid Technology, Motion & Flow Control, Electronic Components, and Defense Electronics & Services. This latter division encompasses the majority of ITT products and services chosen and trusted by the U.S. Army.
ITT is a world leader in developing wireless networking systems for tactical communications and is the creator of core technology used in the world's two largest digitization programs: the U.S. Tactical Internet and Bowman in the U.K. Over the years, that technology has created a family of interconnected products including the single-channel ground and airborne radio systems, advanced digital radio plus, advanced tactical communications systems, Mercury wideband networking radio, Spearhead handheld radio and SpearNet team member radio. In combination with its radio technology, ITT is also at the leading edge of networking with its routers and algorithms. These devices permit self-organizing and self-healing connections all across the battlespace, including environments inhospitable to communications systems such as urban areas. As the co-creator of the software communications architecture for America's Joint Tactical Radio System, ITT is playing a significant role in developing networking solutions for the U.S. Army's Future Force.
Decades of experience and innovation in night vision help the U.S. Army and allied military forces own the night. In 2002, ITT's Pinnacle(TM) third generation thin-film tube paired with a gated-power supply won the maximum allowable portion of the U.S. Army's Omnibus VI procurement for ground and aviator night-vision goggles. Three years later, the company was chosen for Omnibus VII and to supply the U.S. Army with the world's first enhanced night-vision goggle, featuring an optically fused image that combines traditional image intensification with infrared heat signatures. The resulting goggle will provide additional capability for ground forces working in conditions of complete darkness or visual obscurants, such as fog or sand. Looking farther into the future, ITT plans to offer the digital enhanced night-vision goggle combining real-time, fused imagery with digital input and output capabilities. Night-vision technology has become increasingly important for securing national borders as well as city streets. ITT provides federal, state and local law enforcement with the critical tools required for domestic preparedness.
ITT is also an international leader in the design, production and support of airborne electronic warfare as well as communication, navigation and identification systems. With more than 50 years of multiplatform experience, ITT holds the distinction of supporting the broadest range of strategic, tactical, special operations and rotary-wing aircraft. The company's information and electronic warfare technologies, systems and services protect aircrews around the world during the most demanding missions. Those missions include flying into harm's way, enabling aircrews to complete the mission with a technological edge to detect, deny, disrupt, degrade and evade lethal threats.
ITT is a trusted producer of military air traffic control systems and air defense radars used worldwide. Its spectrum of products includes fixed and mobile terminal airport surveillance radars, precision approach radars and air defense radars.
As the world increasingly relies on satellites for information and communication, ITT provides commercial and government customers with a gateway to space. The company is experienced in the design, production and deployment of space-borne meteorological, navigation and imaging systems.
Elsewhere, ITT provides a wide range of research, technologies and engineering support services to government, industrial and commercial customers. This portfolio includes a product to detect chemical and biological contaminants on the battlefield as well as a training system to help vehicle crews identify potential chemical and biological attacks. At U.S. military installations throughout the world, ITT provides total base support and logistics, including planning, training, supply services, equipment logistics and mobilization support. The company also offers total systems support for combat equipment, tactical information systems and facilities for the U.S. military and its allies. It provides base access and perimeter security services for the U.S. military, releasing vitally needed warfighters for other critical missions.
