W. Bruce Byrnes, sales manager
W. Bruce Byrnes, 82, died Jan. 20, 1999, from heart failure. Since retiring in 1986 as sales manager for Associated ElectroMechanics, Inc., Springfield, Mass., he had been living in Nashua, N.H.
Born Sept. 3, 1916, in Pittsfield, Mass., Mr. Byrnes attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill., and Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, Mass. He served as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps and flew with the 8th Air Force in England during the Second World War. From 1946 to 1952, he served in the Air Force Reserve as a captain and in 1951-52 served in the Korean War.
Mr. Byrnes worked in the electrical apparatus industry for approximately 40 years. A member of the Electrical Apparatus Service Association for over 38 years, he served as the New England Chapter president in 1962-63 and as the international president in 1974-75.
Mr. Byrnes is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ellie; daughter, Nancy; daughter, Jean; half-brother, Robert; and three grandchildren.
