Deaths: Woodrow (Woody) McClure Sr., shop founder

Woodrow (Woody) Spurrier McClure, age 90, of Charlotte, N.C., died at his home Dec. 8. Mr. McClure spent his career in the electrical apparatus repair business.

First, he worked for Westinghouse Electric. Then, Mr. McClure moved to Jones Electric Repair Company of Charlotte. In January 1958, he founded Dixie Electro Mechanical Services, Charlotte. Mr. McClure semi-retired from Dixie in 1986 but continued to visit and consult daily until his death.

Mr. McClure, a member of Phalanx Masonic Lodge #31, was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason and a member of the Oasis Temple. He also attended the Thomasboro Presbyterian Church for 50 years, where he served as a deacon, an elder, and Clerk of Session for many years. He played golf regularly until he was 85 years old.

Mr. McClure is survived by his wife, Mary Alice; two sons, Woodrow Spurrier McClure Jr. and Danny Wayne McClure and wife, Jan; three grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; and a brother-- in-law. He was preceded in death by three brothers.
