Watch those hotel bills for extra charges
Electrical Apparatus, Sep 2005
A parcel is delivered to your hotel's front desk and you take it to your room. Later you find the hotel has billed you for receiving the package.
Your bill includes a charge for the safe, although you never used it. The fax you received is charged $5. A $2-a-day maid service charge is on your bill.
In the Wyndham El San Juan hotel in Carolina, San Juan, P.R., a guest was charged $9.50 for "portage" even though he carried his own bags.
Charges like these and many others, once unheard of, are becoming more common, according to AOL Consumer Electronics. Guests are urged to inquire in advance about such charges and to challenge any that appear on bills at checkout.
