For Nos. 12-14 AWG solid wire, the QTR-Turn NM cable stripper (Cat. No. K1412-3) quickly removes the outer jacket of Type NM cable. User places wire in the stripper, squeezes the handle, and makes a quarter turn to sever the non-metallic outer jacket. Spring-loaded action provides self-opening. Serrated nose bends, shapes, and pulls wire. Tool will also cleanly shear 6-32 and 8-32 screws. More information is available from Klein Tools, P.O. Box 1418, Lincolnshire, Ill. 60069-1418; (800) 553-4676. . . . Also from Klein Tools is the Tape Stop power-return rule (Cat. No. 915-25), one inch wide extending to 25 ft. in length, with architectural markings in 1/8 and 1/4 inch steps on the back side of the first 10 feet of the nylon-coated blade, which is automatically self-locking.
The Model DCFV1 wire stripper, with variable speed power unit, will strip round wires with any type of film insulation, including Formvar, nylon, and polythermaleze. Internal dust collection system operates whenever switch is depressed. Tool handles wire sizes No. 15-35 AWG; strip length without stop up to 2.5 in.; with stop 3/32 to 1-9/16 in. Power supply is 115/220/240 V 50/60 Hz. For further information, contact The Eraser Co., Inc., 123 Oliva Dr., Syracuse, N.Y. 13221; (800) 724-0594.
Tested (up to 10,000 volts a-c, 1,500 d-c) and certified to EN/IEC 60900, ASTM F1505, and NFPA 70E, a line of 1,000 volt insulated tools includes wrenches, L-keys, knives, cable cutters, and sockets. Insulation is flame retardant, with adhesion tested to 700C. Two-color layered insulation allows immediate identification of any outer layer damage. More information is available from Wiha Quality Tools, 1348 Dundas Circle, Monticello, Minn. 55362; (800)494-6104.
A three-watt LED PR-Style flashlight bulb, fitting almost any two- or three-cell flashlight, emits 1,200 foot-candles of light in the sunlight-visible cool white (8,000 K) range. Having no gases to heat, filament to break, or glass globe to shatter, with a standard T3.25 flange base, the lamp yields up to 92 hours' continuous battery life. For more information, contact LEDtronics, Inc., 23105 Kashiwa Court, Torrance, Calif. 90505; (800) 579-4875.
Professional-grade ratchets are being offered by Wright Tool Co., One Wright Dr., P.O. Box 512, Barberton, Ohio 44203; (800) 321-2902. Included are the compact round-head quarter-inch drive (Part No. 2426) and heavy-duty quarter-inch (2492); round-head 3/8 and 1/2 inch ratchets with double pawl design allowing for 4.5° arc swing. Also in 3/8 and 1/2 inch sizes is an open head style, to suit an extra-dirty environment. Various styles and lengths include three handle designs: cushioned comfort, traditional knurled, and economically contoured.
CIRCUIT INTERRUPTERS
Features of the CCP compact circuit protector include a 200 kA short-circuit current rating and an interrupting rating of 200 kA with Class CC fuses, as well as a full-voltage rating of 600 V a-c. For DIN rail or panel mounting, the CCP is horsepower-rated for motor circuit protection, and UL98-disconnect-rated for branch circuit protection with Class CC fuses. Compact unit takes up one-third the space of equivalent-rated circuit breakers and two-thirds the space required by a fusible switch. Finger-safe to IP20, the CCP also has lockout/tagout capability. Both local and remote open-circuit indication is provided. Request more information from Cooper Bussmann of St. Louis; (636) 527-1388.
DRIVES & INVERTERS
The E-Clipse drive bypass communicates continually via more than 45 individual data points between the two-contactor bypass itself and a building automation system master controller, even when the drive is not operating. For operation at 208-240, 380-480, or 500-600 volts a-c, 1 to 400 hp, up to 486 amps, the E-Clipse is available in UL Types 1 or 12 or NEMA 3R enclosures. It features both a service switch to disconnect the drive for service and a main disconnect switch or circuit breaker. Included are the more common HVAC protocols, including Modbus RTU, Johnson Controls N2, Siemens FLN, and BACnet; others, such as Profibus, Ethernet, and DeviceNet, are available options. Dedicated plain-English display indicates which (of up to four) safety input has opened. Request further details from ABB Low Voltage Products at www.abb/us/drives.
INTERCONNECTION
Color-coded EMT fittings and couplings are offered by Bridgeport Fittings, Inc., 705 Lordship Blvd., Stratford, Conn. 06615; (203) 377-5944. Complying with all UL and NEC requirements, fittings come in eight colors: silver, red, black, blue, orange, yellow, green, and white. Installers can assign colors to specific applications, such as traditional wiring systems, emergency and alarm circuits, low-voltage electronics, caution areas or higher-voltage wiring, green for critical application or health care circuits. Fittings avoid the need for painting or taping and allow visual identification from either inside or outside electrical enclosures.
