Ultrasonics

What's offered: One- or Two-day technical seminars on ultrasonic plastic welding, joint design, and weld process optimization.

What's covered: Designed to review the latest research and technical developments in ultrasonic plastic welding. The attendee will learn how to utilize ultrasonic welding for the assembly of plastic components and materials with a focus on maximizing weld quality and consistency. Intended for management, design engineers, process engineers, R&D personnel, manufacturing engineers, production engineers, quality control personnel, and assembly line technicians, who are all encouraged to bring their samples and drawings for consultation and discussion.

Relays and substations

What's offered: Two-day seminars at different locations on protective relay testing and substation practice.

What's covered: The relay testing seminars are intended for protective relay test equipment, consulting engineers, and protective relay test technicians and engineers. Two tracks, both basic and advanced, are offered and presented by experienced relay test professionals from Megger. The basic track is intended for relay technicians with a working knowledge of protective relay practices who would welcome additional information and guidance on relay testing. The advanced track is designed for those with comprehensive knowledge of protective relays as well as familiarity with the basic features of Megger's AVTS software and delegates for this track must pre-qualify by successfully completing a questionnaire. The seminars focus on Megger MPRT relay test set and the associated AVTS software package. The substation seminars will cover substation battery condition assessment, ground testing in difficult environments, safe breaker testing, field testing of insulating oil, power quality monitoring in medium voltage systems, and condition assessment. Delegates will be able to discuss their own particular testing needs and issues with experienced engineers from Megger.

Welding

What's offered: The Lincoln Electric Welding School has announced its 2008 schedule, including classes that range from a six-week basic course to an advanced 15week comprehensive course, as well as one-week classes on specific welding processes, certification, and customized programs. Courses are designed to teach arc-welding skills for welding fabricators and other employers.

What's covered: Courses include basic plate and sheet metal, pipe welding, plasma cutting and gouging, oxyfuel process, alloy theory and applications, hardening, gas tungsten arc welding, gas metal arc welding/semi-automatic, flux-cored arc welding/semi-automatic, comprehensive program, advanced pipe, advanced submerged arc welding, and maintenance welding.

Plant maintenance

What's offered: Two- or three-day courses at different locations, including outside the U.S., designed for the predictive maintenance technician, plant electrician, plant engineer, plant manager, and repair shop manager.

What's Covered: Motor Diagnostics and Advanced Electric Signature Analysis in Level I or Level II (3 or 5 days). A-C and D-C covered, as well as basics of electrical reliability improvement, motor testing, and evaluation theory and application, incorporating motor diagnostics into an existing program, electric motor theory, classical motor maintenance, overview and review of motor testing methods, advanced MCA, FFT theory, and advanced ESA.

Corrosion prevention

What's offered: Two-day course on corrosion theory and prevention.

What's covered: The process of corrosion and strategies for combating it. Taught through case studies, laboratory workshops, and use of anti-corrosion products.
