Arc flash

What's offered: Training options include on-site, one- or two-day training; open enrollment courses held throughout the country; and an online refresher one hour and 45-minute electrical safety work practices and standards course.

Fire systems

What's offered: More than 25 educational sessions throughout the U.S., designed for every level of industry professional. All courses are free of charge.

What's covered: Everything from fire alarm basics to detailed hands-on training. The MiniScan Academy is a three-day training course on Fire-Lite's conventional and addressable fire alarm control panels and voice evacuation systems. Power supply fundamentals, product features, installation methods, programming, and troubleshooting are taught through practical hands-on exercises. The SuperLite Academy is a two-day course featuring instruction and hands-on exercises in the capabilities, installation, programming, and troubleshooting of all Fire-Lite manufactured addressable control panels. The Super Academy is a three-day course that covers basic fire alarm technology, common fire system components, fundamentals of voice evacuation, and various NFPA and ADA codes. The course ends with a two-day module covering Fire-Lite's voice evacuation systems and line of addressable fire alarm control panels.

Ultrasonics

What's offered: A Service and Maintenance Seminar and a Theory and Design Seminar, both two days in length, from Branson Ultrasonics Corp., a manufacturer of plastics joining equipment.

What's covered: The Service and Maintenance Seminar covers electronics, pneumatics, and operating controls and is developed for those involved with setup, maintenance, and operation of an ultrasonics plastic assembly system. The Theory and Design Seminar is for anyone who would like to increase their knowledge of part design, material selection, and determining (he best process and equipment for an application. Classroom and hands-on training covering everything from fundamentals to the optimization of process parameters are included.

What's offered: One- or two-day technical seminars on ultrasonic plastic welding, joint design, and weld process optimization.

Relays and substations

What's offered: Two-day seminars at different locations on protective relay testing and substation practice.

What's covered: The relay testing seminars are intended for protective relay test equipment, consulting engineers, and protective relay test technicians and engineers. Two tracks, both basic and advanced, are offered and presented by experienced relay test professionals from Megger. The basic track is intended for relay technicians with a working knowledge of protective relay practices but would welcome additional information and guidance on relay testing. The advanced track is designed for those with comprehensive knowledge of protective relays as well as familiarity with the basic features of Megger's AVTS software and delegates for this track must pre-qualify by successfully completing a questionnaire.

Welding

What's offered: The Lincoln Electric Welding School continues with its 2008 schedule, including classes that range from a six- week basic course to an advanced 15week comprehensive course, as well as one-week classes on specific welding processes, certification, and customized programs. Courses are designed to teach arcwelding skills for welding fabricators and other employers.
