UNITED KINGDOM: FIVE MOST IMPORTANT TRANSPORTATION ISSUES

On April 13, 2005, the U.K.-based Institution of Highways and Transportation (IHT) issued a statement outlining the five most important transport-related issues for the profession, government and country. The issues include:

* A higher profile for transport;

* Investment;

* Maintenance of asset;

* Demand management; and

* Skills shortage.
