ARMA clarification

NFPA Journal, May/Jun 2002

In the March/April 2002 issue, David Hague's article "How NFPA 232 Can Help You," mentions ARMA. ARMA's correct title is ARMA International. ARMA isn't an acronym. ARMA International uses the tag line "The Association for Information Management Professionals" to explain what it is, instead of spelling out an acronym that the Association no longer uses. This is equivalent to Exxon and Xerox, which don't stand for anything, but simply are the name of the organization.

Job well-done

My compliments on your article and the exposure for NFPA 232 in the March/April edition of NFPA Journal.

Performance-based fire safety I read Casey Grant's article "NFPA and WTO" in the January/February 2002 issue.

I was impressed that the full-consensus method of developing international standards is better than the one-country-one-- vote model.

In February, I attended the ISO workshop for Asia in Thailand where we discussed Asian activities in relation to ISO. I think your article is valuable to understand the activities of U.S. [organizations] and ISO.
