Symposium Examines Aging Electrical Systems, Wiring Practices

RESEARCH FOUNDATION

NEW INFORMATION ON the fire performance of aging electrical systems will be presented at the Fire Protection Research Foundation's one and a half day symposium scheduled to take place on October 18-19 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel at O'Hare International Airport in Rosemont, Illinois.

Members of the electrical safety industry will gather to take an in-depth look at the past and present electrical fire problem with presentations from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, the National Fire Protection Association and others. Techniques and case studies for electrical fire investigations will be presented along with the latest in diagnostic techniques and materials issues. Residential wiring practices, design and materials issues will be reviewed and results of the Foundation's two current projects - National Electrical Grounding Research Project and Residential Electrical System Aging Research Project will be presented.

The Fire Protection Research Foundation plans, manages and communicates consortium-funded research on a broad range of fire safety issues in collaboration with scientists and laboratories around the world. The Foundation is an affiliate of National Fire Protection Association.
