Sea Power, Oct 2003
Lockheed Martin Corporation has begun a major realignment of its far-flung naval electronics and surveillance systems units into a single enterprise designated Maritime Systems & Sensors (MS2).
When fully integrated-a process expected to be complete in two years-MS2 is expected to include more than 11,000 employees at sites in Akron, Ohio; Archibald, Pa.; Baltimore, Md.; Eagan, Minn.; Manassas, Va.; Syracuse, N.Y.; Moorestown, N.J.; Clearwater, Fla.; Riviera Beach, Fla.; and smaller sites in more than 70 locations, including 22 sites overseas, said a Lockheed Martin spokesman in a release.

"Our objective is straightforward," said Fred P. Moosally, president of MS2 and former president of Lockheed Martin's now-absorbed Naval Electronics & Surveillance Systems division. "We intend to improve our competitive advantage and offer our current and future customers the best solutions at the most affordable price.
"We are restructuring our business to operate as a single enterprise," Moosally said. "Common processes, systems, and tools will enhance our ability to quickly deploy our talented people and other resources across lines of business in pursuit of new opportunities and to best serve current customers."
The restructuring of MS2 will lead to a single financial system, common processes in all disciplines, and a review of manufacturing capacity and redundancy, the company spokesman said.
