Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedHONOR WALL PAYS TRIBUTE TO THOSE WHO HELP THE SEA SERVICES
Sea Power, Jul 2004 by Fallon, Susan K
From the earliest design stages of the new Navy League of the United States headquarters in Arlington, Va., we have strived to incorporate in the building the qualities of the spirit, depth and vitality representative of the U.S. sea services, and of the people who so proudly serve in them. The entire building will incorporate a spiritual as well as a physical reflection of the sea's glory and power.
One of the special components of the building will be the Navy League's Honor Wall. The Honor Wall will serve as a monument to memorialize the men and women of the U.S. Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and U.S.-flag Merchant Marine who have dedicated their lives to maintain and protect the freedoms essential to the American way of life, and those who have supported these principles. It will be dedicated to those who have helped lead the way and continue to inspire us today.

The Honor Wall which will be the principal architectural component in the main lobby, and symbolize the four U.S. sea services and include inspiring illustrations of past heroes - men and women who served their nation faithfully, and with great distinction, in peace and war. Many of these individuals have placed their lives, families and careers on hold to allow the rest of us to experience peace in ours. We want to honor these great Americans prominently in our new national headquarters.
And we would like your help.
The Navy League is proud to provide you with an exclusive opportunity to recall a family member, friend or loved one who has contributed to the American sea services and memorialize your appreciation for these individuals by having his or her name inscribed on the Navy League Honor Wall.
For each name inscribed on the Honor Wall, you will receive a commemorative Navy League certificate personalized with the name of the individual, organization or family member you have chosen to recognize and the date of the gift. The certificate is suitable for framing and will serve as a patriotic tribute to their contribution towards the preservation of our country and service to the Navy, Marine Corps, Coast Guard or U.S.-flag Merchant Marines.
Because the new lobby will be open to the public and have many visitors pass through in the years to come, it is our wish to have as many individuals represented on the Honor Wall as possible. To help facilitate this, we have kept the price of an Honor Wall inscription to a minimum. The cost for an individual inscription, up to 30 characters, is just $250.
In addition to being a permanent salute to the service of an individual who has answered the call to serve, your inscription is a tax-deductible contribution that will help continue the Navy League's efforts in support of U.S. sea service men and women around the world today.
