Trihedral's monitoring and control software based on OOT

InTech, Oct 1997

Bedford, Nova Scotia, Canada-Advanced operator interface (OI) software supplier Trihedral Engineering has announced industrial monitoring and control software known as Web 5. Aimed at original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and advanced end users, the new software applies object-oriented technology (OOT) to create easy-to-maintain OIs with no programming required.

On the screen, the user sees graphical representations of plant devices, such as motors, pumps, or boilers, and can use these devices as a single logical unit, or object, rather than define separate analog and digital tags for each I/O point on the device. The company says users can tailor objects, such as trending, alarming, security, and redundancy measures, to specific applications. Other features include event-driven execution based on state logic, an object-oriented script language, automatic failover with multiple redundancy, remote monitoring and control via modem, and an unlimited number of stations.
