One big, one small from Logset

Canadian Forest Industries, Sep/Oct 2003

Logset brass from Finland was on hand to introduce two new harvesting heads to Canadian loggers, for a line-up to suit any carrier and/or logging needs. The 4M is a small head (600 kg) designed for thinnings or a steady diet of smaller timber, but capable of handling larger timber as required (max cutting is 19 inches). The 8L and 8X heads are big wood cutters designed for a steady diet of larger trees or limby hardwoods (a topping saw will soon be available). The maximum cutting diameter is over 26 inches, but like all Logset heads the 8L/X features the Syncro-Knife system to allow it to handle small logs or tops down to as small a final diameter as you require. The 4M comes with three feed wheels rolls, while all larger heads offer a choice of rolls, tracks, or wheels. Logset heads, harvesters and forwarders are available in Canada from Equipment Element and Wajax Hydrofor in Quebec, or Paul Equipment in the Maritimes. A largewood 8L/X is already working in Northern New Brunswick - look to future CFI's for more details.
