Bankers vie for positions on Midwest's FHLB boards

Election time is here again for seats on the board of directors for the country's Federal Home Loan Banks. Several bankers from the Northwestern Financial Review coverage area are running for seats in the Midwest. The seats are for two-year terms beginning Jan. 1, 1998.
For the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, there are three seats up for election in Wisconsin, and one in Illinois.
There are five Wisconsin bankers and thrift representatives running for the three state seats. They include: David Ballweg, Community State Bank, Union Grove; James Caldwell, First Citizens State Bank Or Whitewater; Michael Meeuwsen, First Northem Savings Bank, S.A., Green Bay; Harold Swanson, State Bank of Cross Plains; and Douglas Timmerman, AnchorBank, S.S.B., Madison. Timmerman is the incumbent.

Seven candidates are running for two seats in Minnesota. They are: Roger Ahrenholz, Prinsberg State Bank; Drew Donnelly, State Bank of Wheaton; David Knopick, Security State Bank of Mankato; Charles Mausbach, Community First National Bank of Fergus Falls; Kevin Pietrini, Queen City Federal Savings Bank, Virginia; Eugene Platt, First State Bank of Rushmore; and James Talen, Eastwood Bank, Rochester. Mausbach is the incumbent.
There is one seat available in South Dakota. The candidates are Van Fishback, First National Bank in Brookings, and Curtis Hage, Home Federal Savings Bank, Sioux Falls. Hage is the incumbent.
There are no open seats in Montana, Nebraska and North Dakota. Ballots have been sent to member banks and are due Oct. 27.
