Independent bankers to get Congressional update at convention

Nebraska bankers will meet in Lincoln Nov. 13-14 for the 16th annual convention of the Nebraska Independent Bankers Association. At the convention, operating under the theme "Community Bankers: Members of the Same Team" Bill Voss, executive vice president of Jennings State Bank, Davenport, will hand over the association presidency to Thomas Boyer, president, Farmers State Bank, Fairmont.

The meeting will feature a congressional update from Alan Brubaker, an aide to Rep. Doug Bereuter (R-Neb), who serves on the House Banking Committee. Also providing insight will be Brian Smith, banking aide to Sen. Chuck Hagel, (R-Neb.), who serves on the Senate Banking Committee

Mark Drabenstott, vice president and economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City, will discuss financing challenges facing rural America.

Bankers will get an update from the Independent Bankers Association of America from William Sones, IBAA President from Brookhaven, Miss.

William McQuillan, the IBAA president-elect, serves on the NIBA board of directors and is president and CEO of the City National Bank in Greeley.
