Construction of Milbank Facility underway

Construction is underway for the new Community State Bank in Milbank, S.D. Construction of the 1,600-square-foot building is expected to be completed by May, said president Bob Christensen. Dallas I. Hanson Construction of Ortonville is the general contractor. Community State Bank's main office is located in Stockholm, S.D. The Milbank office currently is housed in the Capital Insurance building.
* First State Bank, Tripp, S.D., has completed a major renovation. The project added 2,200 square feet to the building. The year-long project more than doubled the bank's space, providing a handicapped accessible entrance, enlarged teller area and new insurance and loan offices. Jon Klatt is president of the bank.
Community First Bankshares, Inc., last month completed its acquisition of First National Summit Bankshares, Inc., the holding company for First National Summit Bank, Gunnison, Col. The transaction resulted in the exchange of approximately 315,000 shares of Community First common stock for all outstanding stock of First National Summit. Ralph Peters remains CEO of the $90 million Summit Bank.
First National Bank, Pierre, S.D., recently announced the addition of PC Express, an on-line banking service. Customers who own an IBM-compatible computer, Microsoft Windows software and a modem can now conduct personal banking from their homes. The service does not require Internet access. Brent Dykstra is president of the bank.
