Old National buys Illinois banks in Carbondale, Marshall

Old National Bancorp of Evansville, Ind., completed two bank buys in Illinois. The Indiana company finalized its purchases of Carbondale, III.-based Southern Bancshares Inc. and Dulaney Bancorp Inc. of Marshall, Ill. The announcements were made Jan. 29 and Feb. 5, respectively
Southern Bancshares is the parent of First National Bank and Trust Co. in Carbondale, a $255 million bank.
Dulaney Bancorp. is the parent of the $42 million Dulaney National Bank in Marshall. Dulaney National Bank will merge with Old National affiliate Merchants National Bank of Terre Haute, Ind.
The banks are the 38th and 39th financial institutions to join the $6.4 billion Old National fold since 1985.
