Freshman enrollment at the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is up 49 percent from last year. Nearly 200 students are registered for the school, which is taking place Aug. 13-25.
In addition, 54 students enrolled in the school's first Human Resource Management program, conducted during the week of Aug. 13. The school teaches human resources concepts in banking related to the bottom line.
Freshman enrollment at the Graduate School of Banking declined in 1999 largely due to Y2K preparedness time demands placed on bankers and regulators. Jim Pappas, GSB president and CEO, credited the increase this year to increased marketing efforts, recruiting the assistance of alumni, and developing a database follow-up program for prospective students.
For more than 50 years, the school has provided advanced management education for banking professionals. More than 17,000 people have graduated from the program.
