Northwestern Financial Review, Jan 1, 2001

Franklin Bank, N.A., Southeastern Michigan's bank for business, recently appointed 17-year veteran David Shelp to president and CEO and to the board of directors of the $541 million bank.

"Over the last 17 years, David has played a very significant role in the bank's growth and development of its specialized services and programs for local businesses," said David Simon, chairman of Franklin Bank, in Southfield, Mich. "Through an indepth, national search within the banking industry that was narrowed down to several highly qualified candidates, David has emerged with the board's unanimous approval to fill this important role. Truly, we look forward to his contributions to the growth of Franklin Bank in the years to come."

A member of senior management at Franklin Bank since its inception in 1983, Shelp, 54, has previously served as executive vice president, treasurer and chief financial officer. In addition, since July 2000, Shelp has also served as acting president of the bank. In addition to having a bachelor's degree in business administration from Ferris State University in Big Rapids, Mich., Shelp recently graduated from the Stonier Graduate School of Banking of the American Bankers Association.
