Liability could hinder consultants

Back when I used to be an examiner, I was always impressed by the bankers who would tell us how they act as the kind of business enhancement/improvement consultants you refer to in your Straight Talk column (Morphing The Lender, Nov. 20,2000). But the one item always in the back of my mind was the lender liability issue that unsolicited advice could spawn. Maybe wearing two hats in such a way so the consultant part is well removed from the banker part, would work. I don't know - the legal system has a way of finding the deepest pockets. While I agree with your conclusion, maybe some kind of legislation that would limit the bankers' liability should be thought of

Thanks for keeping us 'in touch'

Just finished reading your column (My Search, Oct. 7, 2000) and it really touched me. Please keep writing non-banking columns; there is no shortage of information on the "hot topics" and it is nice to get a different perspective to help keep our lives in touch with "the rest of the world."
