Following merger, S.D. bank puts name on two offices
Northwestern Financial Review, Jan 1, 2001
Two offices of Commercial Bank have changed their name to First National Bank South Dakota. The two offices are located in Huron and Woonsocket. Commercial Bank is a division of First National Bank South Dakota, Yankton.
Although Commercial Bank and First National Bank South Dakota have operated as one bank since First National Bank purchased Mitchell-- based Commercial Bank in November 1999, the name change was put on hold "to better determine customer response," said Sheilah Stoneback, market manager for the two offices. "Our customers have already seen the benefits of this merger. They've seen brand new checking and savings accounts, a newly-defined 50-plus club, the introduction of Internet banking, and more convenient ways to access funds."
"When we merged with Commercial Bank, we took a careful look at the Huron and Woonsocket markets," explained Randy Johnson, president of First National Bank South Dakota.
"What we found was an incredible potential for growth, a strong economic base, and excellent individuals ready to do the job for us. This name change in Huron and Woonsocket brings with it a new era of service for our customers and a new chapter of growth opportunities for our bank."
Although the name change occurred on Nov. 10, cosmetic changes will take place over the next several months. Currently, there are no plans to change the name of Commercial Bank in Mitchell.
