Late fees to be prevented in case of terrorism

Northwestern Financial Review, Jan 15, 2002

Members of the House Committee on Financial Services met with representatives of industry trade groups to create a plan to help consumers avoid late fees and penalties in the event of a mail disruption caused by biological, radiological or chemical terrorist attack. In the event of such an attack, the plan calls for the U.S.

Post Service to notify the House and Senate banking committees, federal bank regulators, the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, the American Bankers Association and the Consumer Bankers Association of post offices and zip codes affected by an attack.
