George L. Crowley was recently promoted to the position of vice president, director of sales at the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Iowa.
Crowley has worked at the Federal Home Loan Bank's St. Louis regional office since 1980 and will now move to the corporate headquarters in Des Moines.
Crowley began his banking career in 1969 with First National Bank in St. Louis where he worked primarily in the correspondent banking area. In 1975, he joined Nixdorf Computer Corp., as a systems engineer and sales representative specializing in the financial services industry. In 1980, he joined the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines as vice president and manager of the St. Louis regional office. He later accepted a position in the bank's marketing area as a regional vice president, assisting bank members in eastern Missouri.
Crowley has a bachelor's of science degree in business from St. Louis University, Mo. He has taken post-graduate courses at Washington University in St. Louis and graduated with honors from the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin.
> Steven G. Kohner, Ann E. Merchlewitz and Kenneth J. Mogren have been elected as directors for Winona, Minn.-based Merchants Bank. Combined they have more than 80 years of professional experience and volunteer service within the Winona community.
Kohner is co-owner and chief executive officer of the Modern Ready Mix Co., of Winona. He has been with the company since 1975. Kohner is a life-long resident of the Winona area and attended Winona State University.
Merchlewitz serves as vice president and general counsel for Saint Mary's University of Minnesota, a position she has held since 1996. Merchlewitz is a graduate of Illinois College in Jacksonville, Ill., and is a 1983 graduate of Notre Dame Law School in Notre Dame, Ind. She has a master of art's degree in philanthropy and development from Saint Mary's University, Winona, in 1996.
Mogren is president of Winona Agency, a position he has held since 2000. He has worked at Winona's leading insurance agency since 1972, and has had ownership interest in the business since 1986. In 1995 Mogren was recognized as the state of Minnesota's Insurance Agent of the Year. Mogren graduated from the Winona State University in 1970.
> Brad Brolsma has been named president of Merchants Capitol Resources, Inc., Merchants Bank's equipment lease financing subsidiary which operates out of Minneapolis. Brolsma joins the Merchants organization with more than 20 years of experience in the lease financing industry. Brolsma will oversee the management of resources and be responsible for the continued development of professional lease financing relationships. Brolsma graduated in 1973 from Minnesota State University at Mankato.
> Roger Bell has been appointed assistant vice president in the agricultural loan department at Cornerstone Bank, York, Neb. Bell has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in Animal Science from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He previously worked for the University of Nebraska Extension Service, Farm Credit and for 17 years was employed by the Mercantile Bank at North Central Missouri.
> Ladd Lyngaas has been named community banking president of the Wells Fargo branches in Detroit Lakes, Minn. Lyngaas graduated from Minnesota State University-Moorehead with a double major in business administration and finance. He entered the Wells Fargo Management Development Program in 1988 and has since served as a business banker in Moorhead and Wahpeton, N.D.
> Heather Usiski has been named a business banker with Wells Fargo, Grand Forks, N.D. Prior to joining Wells Fargo in February, she served three years with a major brokerage firm, most recently as a financial advisor. Usiski has a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of North Dakota, Grand Forks, N.D.
> Mark Frandle has joined Northwoods State Bank as branch manager/loan officer of its east office in Mason City, Iowa. Frandle attended Mankato State University and the University of Wisconsin, LaCrosse. He comes to NSB from US Bank of Albert Lea, Minn., where he was a loan officer and investment banker for the last two years.
> Jeff Jarocyznski has been hired as new auditing supervisor for Mutual Savings Bank, Milwaukee. Jarocyznski's responsibilities will include directing and performing audits, and reviewing and preparing reports of those discoveries. Jarocyznski comes to Mutual after serving as an audit/credit administrator and compliance officer at Bank of Elmwood, Wis. He brings with him more than 18 years of banking experience. Jarocyznski is a graduate of the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where he obtained a bachelor's degree in finance and accounting.
