Northwestern Financial Review, Jul 15-Jul 31, 2002
Charles J. Runde, president of the First National Bank of Platteville, Wis., has been elected president of the Wisconsin Bankers Association. Runde's term began June 1 and extends through May 31, 2003.
Runde has been active with the WBA for many years. He was an instructor with the American Institute of Banking and joined the board of the WBA's first General Banking School in 1984. He later chaired the General Banking School. Runde went on to serve on the WBA education committee and the WBA insurance and benefits committee. He also served on the American Bankers Association's AIB committee and the ABA education foundation committee. In addition, he served on the WBA's Personal Economics Program advisory board.
"The longer I serve on WBA committees and the board, the more impressed I become with the WBA," said Runde, who has been president of the First National Bank since 1986.
Other officers elected to the WBA board of directors are: President-elect Thomas L. Herlache, Baylake Bank in Sturgeon Bay; First Vice President Michael T Crowley, Jr., Mutual Savings Bank, Milwaukee; and Past President Martin H. Frank, Waukesha State Bank.
New members appointed to the board on June 1 Were Philip G. Holland, Ixonia State Bank; Greg LeGare, United Bank in Osseo; and Gerald Weiner, Security National Bank in Durand. Sixteen people serve on the WBA board.
The WBA represents about 350 financial institutions.
